3rd Time Around is an alternative rock band originally from northern Delaware. 3TA was
created in 2005 with the simple purpose of playing music for the love of it. They are now
playing bars all over Maryland and Delaware, and with their full length CD being released
soon, they are planning on touring the country to get their music noticed.
3TA counts among its influences Pearl Jam, Guns -n- Roses, Dave Matthews Band, Bob
Dylan, The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and many more. A
complete list would probably go on for pages.
3rd Time Around is: AJ Love, Adam Love, and Jason Lucabaugh
AJ started playing guitar at the age of 14. He joined Vinyl
Sun at the age of 15 with Adam Love and two friends. After
months of perfecting their craft, Vinyl Sun’s first demo was
released in the spring of 1995.
Vinyl Sun disbanded after the departure of Adam Love in 1996
and AJ began writing songs for a solo project. While suffering
from depression in 1997, AJ found peace in his music through collaborations
with other singer/songwriters.
In the fall of 1998, AJ Love’s solo album Eyes of Me was
released. To date, thousands of copies have been sold.
Singles from the album “Eyes of Me” and “Ghost Train” have
been featured repeatedly on WSTW’s Sunday night show,
Home Town Heroes.
Following the release of his solo album, AJ attended Full Sail University in Orlando, FL where
he graduated with an associates degree in Audio Engineering. AJ then returned home and
took jobs in several recording studios, unsure of his musical aspirations. Then, AJ joined
Karmakaze, where he played lead guitar from 2000 - 2002. While in Karmakaze, AJ
perfected the art of lead guitar. The band accomplished all that it set out to do, selling
T-Shirts, stickers, and headlining local Newark, DE bars.
Karamkaze broke up in 2002 and AJ spent a year writing songs, trying to put a new band
together. After auditioning several candidates, AJ asked Adam Love to play drums. Long
time friend Jason Lucabaugh on bass finished the trio and 3rd Time Around was born.
AJ’s influences are his parents Al and Annamarie, Adam Love, Jason Lucabaugh, Chad
Racine, Guns -n- Roses, Pearl Jam, and his family. The biggest influence of all is just plain
old music, from the Delta to Jazz to Rock and Roll.
I bought my first bass when I was 15 to join Karma. A couple friends from high school started
a band and needed a bass player. Why not, right? Throughout the 3 years with Karma, the name
changed to Karmakaze and we went through a some guitarists and drummers. Some of the best
years of my life... THE BARN CREW. After graduation, I left the band, went to college, spent
some years away from playing music, and focused on my graphic design career, which pays the
bills. Shit, I hate bills. Did some traveling, still not knowing what the hell to do with
myself. During those years I still kept in touch with past band mates and friends, which
later brought me back into the music scene. After Adam and A.J. told me they wanted to start
a band, we created 3rd Time Around in 2004.
Ever since I was a kid, I've always been able to draw things that interest me -- ideas in
my head, cartoons, people, and landscapes. Various materials have been used to portray my
ideas and visions. Music is another way of getting through. Creating and playing music
alters me in a way that when I'm playing, all the problems, fears, and even pain just go away and I actually feel... well, that can't be explained in one word... content, at peace,
full, energetic, alive, rhythmical, relaxed, composed, happy.
So many people have inspired and driven me throughout my life. The most important are: Rick, Sharon, Ricky, Heather L., Bill K., Nick K., Matt and Alissa B., Mike M., Matt M., Brian Y., A.J. L., Adam L., Cassie W., Jenn A., Rita G., John and Shai (ZOL), and all the musicians and artists that have gained my interest through the years (I'm not going to type all those names out).
Fourteen years, three bands, three drum sets, and seven
members rotated.
Adam Love, brother to AJ Love (lead vocals and guitar),
started his fourteen-year run with AJ and Matt Horn in the
band Vinyl Sun; the band where AJ and Adam first exposed
their musical genius.
From there, Adam went on to play in the band Karmakaze,
where he met Jason Lucabaugh (now the bass player for 3rd
Time Around).
Adam is a heavy hitting drummer much like his idol Dave
Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), combined with the smooth
metal sounds of Tool’s Danny Carry. He enjoys all rhythmns
of the skins.
Adam currently resides in Newark, Delaware.
